Hope it’s not too late- this is supposed to come down today, but it may still be up:
This is what Buffy and Firefly creator Joss Whedon did during the writer’s strike. It’s available for sale at iTunes, but this free streaming version has been up for a few days and is supposed to be up until midnight tonight.
Not to be missed!

The 13th Annual Silent Film Festival This Weekend
Posted on July 9th, 2008 by garyh | Permanent Link
Another great Silent festival starts Friday night with Harold Lloyd’s personal favorite, The Kid Brother (1927) and continues over the following 2 days with 11 more great programs starring Lon Chaney, Marion Davies, Coleen Moore (pictured above), the earliest surviving feature-length animated film (and the first ever made by a woman) The Adventures Of Prince Achmed (1927) and lots more.
Saturday night’s presentation is a truly bizarre duet of the macabre: The Man Who Laughs (1928) with Conrad Viedt (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari) followed by the incomparable Lon Chaney in The Unknown (1927), directed by Tod Browning (Freaks, Dracula). Director Guy Maddin (Brand Upon The Brain, The Saddest Music In The World) will introduce and translate the French intertitles for this unusual horror-ode to unrequited love.
All films are presented in their original format at the beautiful Castro Theater and are accompanied by amazing musicians like The Mont Alto Picture Orchestra, The Baguette Quartet, organist Clark Wilson, and pianist/composers Donald Sosin, Stephen Horne and Michael Mortilla (who, apropos of nothing, once dated my sister in high school.)
The San Francisco Silent Film Festival is a great organization which is a major supporter of the preservation of a great art form. I hope to see you there!
